Dr Alice Tsitsi Sigobodhla commenced her medicines regulation career at South African Health Products Regulatory Authority as the Deputy Director: Veterinary Medicines Unit in 2009.
She holds BSc degree (Zoology and Biochemistry) and Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSC) and has worked as Senior Lecturer in veterinary pathology at the Faculty of Veterinary Science at MEDUNSA and later joined the state as Senior State veterinarian. She is currently the Acting Director of the Medicines Evaluation and Research Directorate in the National Department of Health. She has presented at various conferences and workshops. Dr Sigobodhla is passionate about and believes in harmonisation/regulatory convergence. Apart from representing South Africa at VICH, she is a member of the Steering Committe of the harmonisation project on biowaivers and drug master files (International Generic Drug Regulators program involving 13 international Regulatory Authorities).
Her short term dream is to support SADC countries to accelerate the pace of strengthening regulation and control of veterinary medicines through alignment with VICH guidelines and application of reliance mechanisms.
