German citizen. Study of chemistry and food chemistry, PhD (Dr. rer. nat.). Since 1989 research associate and scientific officer at the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (and predecessor organizations). Currently head of the unit “Residues of pharmacologically active substances”. Focus of work: Registration of pharmacologically active substances and veterinary drugs, biocides. Assessment and management of possible health risks from use of veterinary drugs and biocides (all aspects incl. food safety, consumer/user protection). Active as an expert/chair  for committees of the EU Medicines Agency EMA, expert for the JECFA and national bodies. Chair of the VICH EWG “Metabolism and Residue Kinetics” (MRK).
